St. John’s College Festival of Trees 2012
Four teams of SJC residents worked on their trees with stunning results. A great deal of work went into the decorations as many were hand-crafted and truly works of art! The winning team will be announced on December 14…stay tuned!
UPDATE December 20: The winning tree by a close vote was Team 4 (Kara, Jiyoung, Markus, Kristof, Mike, Guillaume, Phoebe, Somaye, Pat, Drea, and Leigh)! Congratulations and thank you creating the spirit of The Giving Tree for us all to enjoy.
Please do drop in to take a look at the trees in our Dining Hall from 10am to 3pm until December 13th and vote for your favorite tree.
Team 1
The Ribbon Tree – streams of tulle are strewn over top of hundreds of white fairy lights with a beautiful ribbon bow atop the tree.
Team 2
The Photo Tree – this team worked well in advance of decorating weekend by taking photos of residents and then making the photos ornaments to hang on the tree. This tree is a silver sparkler! SJC is spelled out in 3 silver ornaments.
Team 3
The Origami Tree – while this tree features beautiful hand-crafted decorations in various mediums the feature is paper and the unique and detailed origami animals. This team used their whole space for visual impact.
Team 4
The Giving Tree – the team also used their entire space. This tree if filled with hand-crafted ornaments that could be picked off the tree for purchase: dried citrus ornaments, candy glass cookies, and ornaments meant to be bird treats. There is also recycled paper bead strings from BeadforLife. This is at tree you could look at for a long time and discover something new.
