Residential members are selected by the Membership Committee on the basis of academic record; international knowledge, experience and/or background; a demonstrated record of community leadership and volunteer activities; and potential for contributing to and benefiting from College life. The academic life of the College is central to its mandate. Junior Fellows must have a keen intellectual curiosity which extends beyond their own academic discipline in order to fully enjoy and benefit from active participation in the College’s wide-ranging academic activities.
St. John’s College offers a limited number of places for long term faculty stays (up to one year), both for new and existing UBC faculty members as well as visiting faculty and graduate student from other institutions. Faculty members wishing to reside at the College should bring international experience and/or perspective, and must be committed to being involved with Junior Fellows (graduate students) and active in the College community.
