Message from Prof. Chris Lee, Associate Principal:
As part of our fifteenth anniversary, the Academic Committee has been working on an updated version of our mission statement. It has been a challenge to condense the meaning of the College into 150 words, but the process also enabled us to name the things that makes SJC special in order to better convey our identity to potential residents and visitors. In true SJC fashion, we have been asking residents and alumni to help us translate the new mission statement into their home language. These translations will be put online in order to reflect the incredible cultural diversity of the SJC community. So far, we have received translations in Thai, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, German, Japanese, Greek, Portuguese, Turkish, Persian, Russian, Sakha, and Indonesian. We’d like to have many many more, though, and so we need YOUR help. If you’re willing to add a translation that we haven’t covered yet, please contact Stacy Barber (sjc.events at ubc.ca) or myself (Chris.Lee at ubc.ca) for more information. In the meantime, please check out the latest version of our translation page.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Chris
