The mission: make Materials Engineering interesting!
Guillaume’s modus of operandi for this mission will be to talk a little bit about chocolate (a beloved material in his arsenal), and how it can be considered as a material. “Materials are probably more deep-seated in our culture than most of us realize. Transportation, housing, clothing, communication, recreation, and food production—virtually every segment of our everyday lives is influenced to one degree or another by materials.”
He will then introduce the very basics of the world in relation to materials engineering, and how metallurgy evolved (or not) through the history. If you’re asking yourself: “Why do people study materials engineering?”, “What’s so interesting in concrete and metals for people to study them?”, or ” What is a material anyway?”, then this brief introduction of materials engineering is for you.
And what if there was a chocolate tasting at some point in this talk? Why that would be mission accomplished.
