Johannean Dr. George C. Shen and Mrs. Jane Shen visited St. John’s College UBC on August 7, 2014. Dr. Shen was greeted by SJC Principal Dr. Henry Yu, Associate Principal Dr. Chris Lee, Johannean Ambassador Ms. Denise Fong, Johanneans Dr. Chih Hsu and Dr. Stanley Kwok, as well as recent recipients of the SJC George Shen Fellowship.
Dr. Shen is one of the lead founding members of St. John’s College, and is also the benefactor of the SJC George Shen Fellowship. Graduated from St. John’s University in 1949, Dr. George C. Shen is the Chief Editor Emeritus of the Hong Kong Economic Journal, and worked together with Jhn. Robert Ho to establish SJC at UBC.

Biography of Dr. George C. Shen (Chinese)
沈鑒治，《信報》榮休總編輯，《信報》專欄作家。生於上海，因日軍侵華，隨家人避戰至香港，就讀於拔萃男書院。太平洋戰爭爆發，香港淪陷，隨父母返回上海。一九四九年聖約翰大學畢業，即前往香港謀生，於五金貿易行任英文秘書，其間開始向報刊投稿，撰寫影評及古典音樂評論。一九五六年獲聘於麗的呼聲，參與開創香港第一個電視台——麗的映聲，並擔任電視編導。五十年代末至六十年代初，先後在國語電影界的新新公司、鳳凰公司任導演、編劇，代表作有《千里姻緣一線牽》、《椰林雙姝》、《烽火孤雛》等。文革爆發後離開國語電影界，轉任香港政府，參與籌建香港生產力促進局，後被派往日本東京任職於亞洲生產力組織（APO）。一九八六年受《信報》林行止邀請返港擔任《信報》總編輯，一九九六年退休赴美定居。
