What is Sociological Imagination?: Understanding the Value of Sociology in a Modern World.
Questions that are often posed to sociologists are simply, “what is sociology?” and “what is the significance of sociology?” This presentation will look to answer these questions by explaining the significance of sociology to an ever changing society. Instead of focusing on individuals, sociology tries to situate the individual in the larger social structure and use the individual’s environment to help explain a social phenomenon, i.e. to use a Sociological Imagination. I will use my Master’s Thesis that focuses on Vietnamese Buddhist Youth Groups and their impact on young Vietnamese-Americans to help elaborate on the significance of sociology
